Scarring and Personal injury
Scarring is a Deformity
Scarring is the process of wounds being repaired. Fibrous tissue replacing normal tissues that are damaged or destroyed resulting in leaving a mark on the skin after the healing of a wound often caused by injuries in the form of burns, lacerations and even loss of limbs and surgery.
In many cases, medical treatment from serious accidents may lead to permanent scarring and/or disfigurement. The healing process and physical appearance of scarring is undetermined due to the severity and location of the injury.
The physical, medical, and psychological injuries and financial consequences of scarring, including disfigurement can often be substantial, and may require long-term and expensive treatment, including:
- Various forms of surgery;
- Significant skin grafts;
- Reconstruction of faces;
- Prosthesis for lost limbs;
- Rehabilitation and physical therapy; and
- Psychological treatment.
Although there are various procedures to minimize scars such as chemical peels, laser surgery and scar revision surgery, these treatments may not be covered by all medical insurance providers.
Our law firm will work with medical experts to prove the significance of your scarring due to your injury and any long-term effects that you may have and will fight to get you compensated.
