Meet Robert S. Horton
Robert S. Horton is an associate attorney at Burnside Brankamp Law, LLC. Born and raised in the Portsmouth, Ohio area, Robert’s passion for advocating for the underdog is deeply rooted in his ties to his family and Southern Ohio. His Appalachian upbringing formed his belief that people deserve a lawyer who is compassionate, ready to listen, and is dedicated to achieving results.
After graduating from Wheelersburg High School, he proudly attended Shawnee State University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. During this time, he gladly served his community by volunteering as the basketball coach for his local school district. Outside of the classroom and the basketball court, he worked closely with distinguished legal scholars and professors on various legal research projects that largely focused on vulnerable populations.
Through this work, he discovered his calling to serve those in need and decided to attend law school at Michigan State University College of Law; with the understanding that he would return to his hometown in pursuit of justice for families in his community. As a law student, he worked as a legal intern at Burnside Brankamp Law, LLC. and worked closely with Attorney Jeremy Burnside. As a result, he carries with him a common vision of the importance of individual advocacy, as well as the importance of community service.
Following law school, that vision brought him to work as a staff attorney for civil legal aid in Portsmouth, Ohio where he represented low-income families in the matters of family law, consumer law, and juvenile law. Today, Robert continues that vision through representing clients suffering from injuries through no fault of their own. When he is not practicing law, he enjoys kayaking, hiking with his Great Dane, Stanley, and visiting State and National Parks with his family.
