Concussion Attorneys
What is a Concussion?
A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury that can affect one’s life in ways that are often forgotten. This can be caused by a blow to the head or body that causes the head to move rapidly back and forth. If you or somebody you know has suffered a concussion as a result of somebody else’s negligence, you may want to contact an attorney that handles these types of cases and can help you through the process.
At Burnside Brankamp Law, we understand the significant changes a concussion can hold over your life. Our number one priority is to make sure you recover from the mild traumatic brain injury while keeping the stress of your claim off of your shoulders.

Post-Concussion Syndrome
A person can suffer the effects of a concussion for weeks or months. This is called post-concussion or post-concussive syndrome.
We fight for people who suffer the following effects of post-concussive syndrome:
- Headaches;
- Fatigue;
- Dizziness;
- Loss of memory;
- Difficulty thinking clearly;
- Nausea or vomiting;
- Irritability;
- Anxiety;
- Insomnia;
- Blurry vision; and
- Sensitivity to light.
At Burnside Brankamp Law, we do not discount your injuries as we see these symptoms in a lot of our cases and understand that there is no definitive way to predict how long a person will suffer these effects. What we can do is stick by your side through the process and give you one less thing to worry about by handling your claim with the insurance company.
Treating a Concussion and How it Affects Your Claim
The most important stage of treating your concussion is successfully diagnosing your condition. Your doctor may want to conduct several tests to evaluate your cognitive skills, such as memory and concentration. There are also imaging tests that could determine the severity of your injury. An overnight observation may also be imperative, be it at home or in a hospital.
Once you have been diagnosed, resting is the most common way to treat your concussion. This means avoiding any activities that make your symptoms worse, which can range from avoiding physical activity, reading, or looking at your cell phone. Seeing as how this does not accrue any monetary amount of damages, the insurance company will sometimes discount the effects this concussion has had on your life.
